A Model of the World

When the stakes are high, do not rely on people playing by the rules out of a sense of duty, a fondness for Kant, or the realization that the rules are there to protect the greater good. Rather, hand out appropriate punishments when the rules are broken. If you don't, or you do this only reluctantly, chances are that the rules will be broken often and the greater good will be harmed.
