The Ten Worst Beatles Songs

The Beatles were a curious band in that they were great, but they also delivered some genuine crap. As promised, here comes my list of the ten worst Beatles songs. Only songs that they officially released while they existed qualify. All references to albums refer to the UK editions, which in many cases differ from the US editions.

10. Till There Was You (With the Beatles, 1963)
"Then there was muuuusic..." That's not always a good thing.

9. Ask Me Why (Please Please Me, 1963)
Yeah, why?

8. P.S. I Love You (Please Please Me, 1963)
The worst thing about this song is maybe not the music itself, but that it inspired the prose of Cecilia Ahern.

7. Anna (Please Please Me, 1963)
Yeah, go with him, and take the song with you.

6. Misery (Please Please Me, 1963)
Indeed.

5. Tell Me What You See (Help, 1965)
It seems a bit far-fetched to call an instrument cheesy, but in this case I'll make an exception: The worst thing about this song is the cheesy organ. Except for the lyrics maybe.

4. Do You Want to Know a Secret (Please Please Me, 1963)
Nope.

3. A Taste of Honey (Please Please Me, 1963)
I don't like honey at all, but I'd rather have some than listen to this song. Doo-doo-doo-doo-dooooo.

2. Mr. Moonlight (Beatles for Sale, 1964)
This song is awful despite the opening being remindful of Otis Redding's "Dock of the Bay". What's this kind of music called, "rumba"? Conjures up visions of having to dance with the ugliest girl in the room. And she's chewing gum.

1. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da (The Beatles, 1968)
Sums up everything there is to hate about Paul McCartney. The view that this is the worst Beatles song seems to be rather common.

That's right, Please Please Me is not my favourite Beatles album. I knew that before, but the surprising thing about this list is really how in most cases you can tell by the titles.

In case you have a better list, comments are open.

Maxwell's Silver Hammer beats all of these. It's vile. Octopuses Garden isn't great either.

Both on the same album as well! Ouch!
